The fight for BioWare's legacy has finally moved from social media comment sections to the pavement outside Electronic Arts' doorstep. After the initiative #SaveMassEffect booked billboard space at New York's Times Square in record time last month, the fan group "We Are Mass Effect" has now sent a mobile advertising truck directly to the publisher's headquarters in Redwood City, California. On November 6th, the vehicle circled the EA and EA Sports complex for four hours – displaying unmistakable messages calling to save the legendary sci-fi saga.

Four-hour vigil on wheels outside EA headquarters

The mobile protest was initiated by community organizers Mer and Ariel Aguilar, along with content creator Kala Elizabeth. The advertising truck patrolled the public streets around the corporate campus until 1:00 PM local time to make the players' message unmistakably clear to the executive management.

Co-organizer Mer told Kotaku that the driver was instructed to circle the buildings as closely as legally possible without entering EA’s private property. The organizers called on the local community to share sightings and photos of the truck using the hashtag, while strongly warning against any trespassing or unauthorized access to the company grounds.

Bitter N7 Day: From Celebration to Tragedy

The timing of the action hits a particularly sensitive point in gaming history: November 7th has long been recognized by the community as N7 Day , the official annual holiday honoring the Mass Effect universe. However, following the surprising closure of the veteran studio BioWare on October 21, 2026, this commemorative day has turned into a bitter farce this year.

In the lead-up to the date, it became known that BioWare had prepared several licensing and merchandise deals for N7 Day before its shutdown. Industry reports indicated that a new teaser for the now-canceled project Mass Effect: Universe was supposed to be revealed during this past weekend. The fact that EA will likely continue to sell fan merchandise for a franchise whose creator studio was shut down just two weeks ago only fuels the fans' anger further.

Political Move in the Canadian House of Commons

The wave of protests is no longer limited to advertising spaces and social media hashtags. In the studio’s home country, the conflict has reached the political stage: Canadian fans submitted an official e-petition to the House of Commons (House of Commons) , publicly supported by lawmakers such as NDP politician Don Davies.

The petition calls on the Canadian government to consider providing financial aid and grants to the dismissed BioWare developers. The goal is to give former employees the opportunity to buy out the studio as well as the IP rights to Mass Effect and Dragon Age from Electronic Arts and to continue operating as an independent Canadian studio.

Even though such a buyback would legally depend on Electronic Arts’ willingness to sell, and EA continues to hold the rights, the alliance of billboard campaigns, truck protests, and parliamentary petitions demonstrates one thing: The Mass Effect community is not willing to accept the abrupt end of their universe without resistance.
