Aliens Fireteam Elite has faced a challenging reception within the gaming community, drawing early comparisons to the disappointing Alien: Colonial Marines. Both titles share a similar cooperative premise and linear level progression, but Aliens Fireteam Elite emphasizes cautious advancement through narrow corridors and airlocks, with danger lurking at every turn. The game slows the pace to enhance tension and team coordination as players progress between checkpoints. Developed by Cold Iron Studios in San Jose, this marks the studio's debut project. Although the game draws criticism, it represents Cold Iron's earnest effort to establish a foothold in the community. Published by Focus Home Interactive—known for titles like A Plague Tale: Innocence, SnowRunner, and Warhammer 40K games—the publisher brings experience with unique titles, even if they lack prior expertise with Alien franchise games. Players create a team of three from five distinct classes: Gunner, Demolisher, Technician, Doctor, and Recon. Each offers unique abilities and strategic advantages. Success depends on selecting the right mix of skills and gear before missions, including over 30 weapons and 70 modifications. Ammunition, medkits, tools, gadgets, and perks play a vital role in preparing to face relentless Xenomorph waves. Aliens Fireteam Elite appeals primarily to Alien fans and cooperative gameplay enthusiasts. Its gameplay evokes similarities to Left 4 Dead and Back 4 Blood, notably by using a card system that varies enemy hordes with each playthrough. Combat poses a tougher challenge since Xenomorphs withstand more damage than typical zombie or human foes, encouraging tactical targeting and teamwork. Although some may find the recurring checkpoints and loading sequences impediments to replayability, the game offers a solid shooter experience for small groups seeking tense cooperative action. Buy an Aliens Fireteam Elite Key and gear up to battle the Xenomorph menace.
